#18 The 5th Wave

This week, I finished reading "The 5th Wave" by Ricky Yancey. I have a lays wanted to read this book. I've heard a lot of good things about this book. People recommended it. It's also going to be a major notion picture next year.
For this week's blog post, I am going to write a "Asking Questions and Wondering" post.

Q: When I watched the trailer of the book, Cassie is played by Chloe Mortez. Chloe is 18 years old, so I was wondering, how old is Cassie in the book?
A:Cassie the main protagonist that is played by Chloe Mortez is 16 years old.
Q: In the first part of the book, I was wondering where Cassie's brother is. Becayuse in the trailer, it showed that Cassie was running away with her brother.
A: Cassie's brother Sammy was taken to "Camp Haven".
Q: I knew from the beginning that something is wrong with "Camp Haven". It seemed kinda off. I was always thinking that their camp seemed to be too good to be true. I really thought that the kids are going to go through something hard. They're not going to be just eating gummy bears the whole day. I had two answers in my mind. The first one is that the kids would be the "hosts" of the Others (I know, I have a weird imagination.).Second, that they would be trained to be soldiers to go against the Others.
A:The healthy kids were trained to be soldiers. Even as young as 7 years old, as long as the people running the camp see a potential in you, they train you.
Q: In the camp, they separated the healthy kids and the sick kids.  I was wondering what they did to them. Again, I had two answers in my mind.
A:  I thought that they probably killed the "sick" kids. I was right, they killed them. They killed Megan who was considered as a "sick" kid. The book might not have said it, but based on the discoveries made by the other characters of the book, it proved it.

Making Connections #17

This week, I finished reading the series .
It's a really good book.  I really enjoyed reading it and was saddened when I finished it.
This week I am writing a "Making Connections" type blog post.
Selkie the protagonist has a best friend name Kelsey. She never really thought that her best friend Kelsey would be with her through her rough times. She thought that Kelsey is just with her doing good times and bad times, but she was wrong. Kelsey risked her life to save Selkie. Kelsey helped Selkie with her tasks even though it was risky.
I have never been in a life threatening situation with my best friend Anjela, but I could certainly say that my best friend Anjela is like Kelsey. She has been with me through my rough times. She didn't leave me alone through my bad times, but instead stayed by my side, cheered me up and helped me.. Good times and bad times, she was with me. She helped me through bad times and good times.            Our friendship isn't perfect just like any others. There are small misunderstanding, but we never let it worsen. We always make a way to make up. We can't hold grudges on each other for so long-probably the longest was a week. It's safe to say that I have the bestest of best friends and I a very thankful for that.

Week 16 Pure emotions Three Times lucky.

This week I'm reading the book "Three Times lucky" by Sheila Turnage and for blog post, I'm going to do Pure Emotions.
Mo, the main protagonist of the book is technically adopted. Colonel found her washed away by the water and took care of raised her as his won together with Miss Lana. Though she is happy, she can't help but feel lonely. She always thinks as an outside and someone not part of her "family" or even the county. I am certain that I am not adopted , but at times I just can't help feeling like an outsider in my family even with my friends. I feel like I don't belong with them, like I shouldn't be friends with them or I'm just an extra in the family. I have never felt like I belonged somewhere. I've always felt like an outsider. I can never fit in and that I'm different just like Mo. She lives in the town and  is a part of it, but still some people look at her as an outcast.

Week 15 Blogpost Book review of Red Thread Sisters.

For this week's blog post, I'm doing a book report of the "Red Thread Sisters" by Carol Peacock. This book follows the story of a girl named Wen. Wen had stayed in an orphanage in China for 11 years with only Shu Ling her best friend that she can call family. Wen got adopted by an American family and she now gets to have the luxury that she never had in the orphanage. She now doesn't starve, has a lot of clothes, now goes to school and many other more. Wen though never really enjoyed all of these things knowing that Shu Ling back in the orphanage is alone and is not experiencing what she's experiencing right now. Wen looks for ways to be able to get an American family that would adopt Shu Ling. Her real adventure starts here.
I personally really wasn't planning on reading this book. I'm not really a big fan of books that doesn't really have that much of actions and adventure. I was really expecting that I'll find the book not enjoyable, but I did. I got really engrossed with the book and couldn't put it down that I finished it in about just 3 hours.
I really like how the author really wrote it based on the character's race. The way the main protagonist looked at things you could say it was on her race's perspective. I also like ow the story was really realistic. Like you know that these things could happen in real life.  I also like how the story went slow and smoothly. Nothing was rushed.
There is no perfect book. There would always be a flaw. Though I think that the book is good I also think that the plot is kinda cliche. I found it cliche because when I finished reading the book I looked for other books that has similarities, unfortunately I found a lot.
I recommend this book to everyone. This book circles friendship, family and love therefore this is a perfect book for everyone. I rate this 8/10.

Week 14

This week for our blog post is a Literary Criticism type of blog post. I'm going to talk about the Matched Trilogy specifically about Cassia Reyes.
Cassis Reyes lives in a society where everything she does is controlled by the Society. How she thinks is manipulated by the society. She was born to believe in what the Society tells her to believe in.
She thought that the Society. She thought that everything that the Society did was reasonable. The Society in her eyes was perfect and flawless, but all of that changed.
The Society decides for her who she's going to love, but she resists to. She falls in-love with someone and she starts to see all the Society's flaws. She sees all the Society's wrong doing. Cassia realizes that most of her life has entirely been a lie. She becomes braver, fighting for her love and what she think is right. Rebelling against the Society, she realizes how foolish she has been.

#13

DIVERGENT and HUNGER GAMES. This week I'm doing Literary Compare and Contrast for my blog post this week.

There are a lot of similarities between two books. The both of the books were made into a movie by the same company:the Lionsgate company. Also, both of the books have female lead characters. Another similarity is that both are dystopian books. It may not exactly be the same, but in both books the people are divided into groups. The Divergent book has a romantic touch to it, the Hunger Games also has a romantic touch to it. Both are trilogies and are also best sellers. In my own opinion, both of the books are favorites of people my age.
There are a lot of similarities between two books, but there are also a lot of differences. In "The Hunger Games" you can see Peeta, Gael and Katniss in a love triangle relationship while in the "Divergent" book you'll only see Tris and Four in a romantic relationship, there is no third. I also think that there's more suspense and violence in "The Hunger Games". Both the protagonists in both books are fighting the government but in "The Hunger Games" the fight or you could say the revolution is bigger. Katniss is leading more people against the government.
Both books have a lot of similarities. Thy're both great books, but unique in their own ways. The plot isn't the same. The authors had different feelings and emotions while writing the books.

#12 Pure Emotions

For this week's blog post, we're doing Pure Emotions. I'm reading the book Red Thread Sisters. The protagonist of the story got adopted, so you could say that we have a big difference. Nonetheless our big difference, we still have similarities. When Wen got adopted, she had her family always around her, but she still sometimes felt alone and far away from them. I have a family that are always around me all the time, but I also always feel alone. Wen felt like no one can understand her. I seldom times feel that. I know my parents love me and all, but I can't help to feel alone. I feel like they would never understand me. This might sound really bad, but at times I feel like they don't even know me. They say that they love me, but I feel like they don't. Wen always felt like she was a burden. I also feel like a burden too. Especially every time when they buy me something and also when they pay for my tuition. Even if we eat outside I always feel bad. They're always wasting their money on me and it always makes me feel really bad. I also always felt like an extra, like what Wen always felt.

Origin Week11

This week I'm doing poetry for Origin.

Perfection is perfect.
Never wrong always correct.
Immortality at its best.
Never dying or forever rest.

What is perfection without love?
A freezing hand without a glove.
Forever alive, but dead inside
A lonely groom-less bride

Lives sacrificed for perfection.
Feeling no affection.
Blood-stained hand
Guilt you can't withstand

Love, the greatest thing in Earth.
Love, the reason for near death.
Love, the cause of freedom
Love, the effect of martyrdom.

"Pia has grown up in a secret laboratory hidden deep in the Amazon rain forest. She was raised by a team of scientists who have created her to be the start of a new immortal race. But on the night of her seventeenth birthday, Pia discovers a hole in the electric fence that surrounds her sterile home–and sneaks outside the compound for the first time in her life.

Free in the jungle, Pia meets Eio, a boy from a nearby village. Together, they embark on a race against time to discover the truth about Pia’s origin–a truth with deadly consequences that will change their lives forever." unknown.

Pia is trying to be perfect. She grew up told by everyone around her that her sole purpose in life is to make other ones like her. She believed that, until she met Eio. She grew feelings for him and then over time she realized that she loves him. The both of them discovered that lives were taken for her to be perfect and that Pia's "family" is trying to kidnap more people to be killed. Together they stop and protected the people. In the process of protecting the people, Eio's dad died just to let Pia escape.

Week 10 Strange Conversations

This week is Strange Conversations. For my blogpost this week I'm making Poseidon enter Ky's world.

Ky walked by the black stinky Sisyphus river continously moving. He sighed when he saw the fishes that had black streaks on it's body. He sat down a few feet from the river and took out a piece of stone-hard-bread. He was about to take a bite of it when he heard a loud splash that is impossibly loud for just a fish. He immediately stood up and hid behind the tree thinking it could be enemies. He crouched behind the tree and stared at the river with eyes wide opened.
"Who dare destroy my river?" There in the river a guy standing in the water said not too loud, but enough for Ky to hear, with an obvious anger in his voice. The guy looked like in his middle age with a trident in his hand. Ky crouched more behind the tree just staring at awe at the guy, he wondered how the guy walked in the water and how he got there. Ky decided turn around and tell the society about the guy, but before he could he heard a loud booming voice.
"Hey you!" Ky ran away without looking back. Ky fell down because of a wave of water hit him. He disbelievingly stood up and turned around. He was shocked to see the guy literally holding water, but kept a blank face.
"Do you know who did this to the riverr?" The guy asked  with anger on his voice. Ky then realized that the guy was holding what seemed like a big blue-ish fork. He have never seen one
"Yes I do," Ky answered, he wondered how this guy didn't know that the society did this.
"Who i-" The guy was about to say something, but he was cut off when he heard a ring. The guy took a shell out of his pocket and placed it in his ears. Ky was completely puzzled how the shell rang and if this guy is crazy talking to a shell.
"What do you need?......Percy? Yes he is my son.........He's going to defeat you. He is the best demigod after all. Have you not heard of all his adventures... YES I AM! I am coming to get you!" As soon as the call ended he disappeared. Ky stared at where he have been. He shook his head and tried to convince himself that he was sleeping. He pinched himself and sure enough he was sleeping.

Week #9 Wickedpedia

I'm doing flash fiction. There's gonna be a nerd.

"Did I or did I not tell you to stay away from Winnie?' As soon I walk in the library I heard Josh's voice. If you're wondering how I know him, well everyone knows him. He's popular and a big bully. All nerds in this school hate him. He bullies all of the nerds in this school, but except for me and some of my friends. I'm always careful to not get on his way. I look at the clock to see what time it is. Lunch is almost over and I still haven't started my homework that's due next class.
I don't want to be seen by Josh. I want to graduate high school without being bullied.  I'd rather miss this one homework than be bullied for the whole year.
I walk outside and head towards the bathroom. I guess I'm gona have to suffere in this stinky cubicle until lunch ends. I take out my books and sstart doigmy homework.

Week 08 PREDICTIONS

This week I'm reading "The Bar Code Tattoo" by Suzanne Weyn.

I'm halfway through the book. I think that Kayla and Zekeal will end up together. There might not be enough proof or evidence in the book, but I feel a spark between the both of them. My other prediction is she'll move out of her house. Ever since her dad died her Mom is not acting so mother -like. Her mom acts like she doesn't have any daughter.
I also predict that Kayla will be like Katniss Everdeen. You know who'll start and lead a rebellion against the government. Her hatred is big enough for her to start a rebellion. She has all the reasons to rebel. Her best friend had to leave her cause of the barcode and her dad died because of it too.

Week 7

In the first few sentences, Cassia talks about the Match banquet. I was wondering how do they even match people. Later in the story they tell us how they match people. She tells us that the society matches the people by genes, characters attitudes.
Xander seemed to know a lot of things about Cassia. I wondered how and why she knows Cassia so much. Cassia then later tells us that the both of them has been best friends since they were still kids.
I was wondering why Cassia seemed to talk about his grandfather ,but not his grandmother. While reading further I discovered that her grandmother died at an early age because of cancer.
I wondered how Ky became an Abberation. Later in the book it said that Ky's real father committed an Infraction. If a parent commits a Infraction, their kids will automatically become an Abberation. (Abberations- People that are not seen as full citizens and don't have all the privileges of citizens.)(Infraction- A breaking of a law in the Society.)

Week #6

I'm reading the book "What Happened to Goodbye" by, Sarah Dessen this week. It's a good book as expected because Sarah Dessen is probably one of the best authors of teen fiction books.

The picture above is when Mclean and her dad went to his new restaurant. Her dad and Opal, the person who works there are having an argument. Mclean's dad is telling Opal that they should change some of the menus. Opal doesn't agree because she says that regular costumers like it. Mclean's dad insisted that there were only 2 people. Mclean is just standing there and watching them.
I chose this because I could imagine myself as Mclean and Opal and Mclean's dad as my parents. While my parents argue, I'm just standing there in the corner watching them.

Week # 5

Dear Ever,
My parents are still alive and I have no siblings. I honestly don't know what I'd do if my parents dies. I'd probably commit suicide. You're a very strong and brave girl.
You're ping through a rough time. Instead of isolating yourself from other people. Socialize and have fun. Don't waste your high school life. Your psychic powers isn't supposed to stop you from socializing. Don't take your powers as a curse take it as a gift. You don't have to tell people about it, but you can secretly help other people with it the right way without them knowing.
Be strong and hold on. You're life doesn't stop with your family dying. There's other people who cares about you.

Sincerely
           -Clawy Jumamil

Dear Clawy,
I appreciate your concern, but as you said you don't know anything. You don't know how it feels like to lose the people you love-all of it. I watched them go to the other side of the world. I watched them leave me.
My psychic power is a curse. I will never look at it as a gift. For me there are more disadvantages than advantages. It will always be a curse and never will be a gift. I don't want this.
I want it this way, isolated. I only have a few friends but I like it this way. I want to hide myself. In fact I want to stop existing. I don't even know why I'm still alive.
Again thank you for your concern, but I don't need it.
Sincerely
            -Ever

How was you summer

"Spring just ended, school just finished and summer just started."
                                                       - Clawy

Summer means not having homework, staying up late, going to sleepovers and visiting other places. My summer was great.  I honestly thought that my summer would be boring, but it turned out not, it was fun.
During the course of the summer, I did a lot of sleepovers with friends. We had so much fun just staying up late, watching scary movies and eating a lot of junk foods. Our church also had church camping and I enjoyed it a lot. I saw some other friends of mine from other churches too.
The very highlight of  my summer was when we went to Niagara falls. Me and my family have really wanted to see Niagara Falls, and we did. We had so much fun. We got to see the wonderful work of God.
Summer is when we get to do a lot of things. We don't have to think of home works quizzes and  tests. We get to spend more time with our family and friends.

"The Chosen" May 28

His love is unexplainable
It's unobtainable
Bigger than the biggest river
It will last forever

He suffered and died for us
Though we're not worthy
He's very gracious
Though we're very dirty

The Chosen April 15

I felt bad after reading this. It talks about how one out of every 33 people on Earth had an account with MySpace. The book asked us if we have space on MySpace for God.
I honestly think that I'm spending just a small part of my time with God and almost always put other thing first and dont' have time or space for Him.  It's sad to think how we spend a big a part of our time doing useless things than we spend with our Creator. I sometimes do worldly things even on the only day of the week that we should spend the whole day with God.
We should all spend our whole Saturdays with God. It's the only day of the week when  we can go to church and focus and spend the whole day with him.
