I'm gonna write for my blog this week about  the book "The Outsiders"

. The book was really good. I've already finished it. But the part where Johnny

and Dally

died at the same day really touched my heart. I keep thinking  if that was me what will I do. I'll probably be just sitting in the corner eating chocolates forever

or worst kill myself

It's really hard loosing someone especially two of them at the same day. But the Greasers are pretty tough for not committing suicide. The two of them are really important to the Greasers.

Making Connections

       For my blog this week I'm gonna write about 'The Outsiders'.  We're reading it for our 'Weekly Reading'. It's a really good story.you can get some good moral lessons even in the first chapters of the story.
      The story is almost about being an outsider. I myself have some experiences that I felt like I'm an outsider, like I don't belong in. Even in small things I feel like I'm an outsider. Like when the group's talking about something and I don't know what is it. The main characters in the story had all have experiences which they felt like an outsider.

Making Connections

      I'm done reading The House of Hades.

The last part was really sad. When Percy saw the stars and he remembered Bob who sacrificed his safety for Percy and Annabeth.

Bob's last wish before they went inside the elevator was for Percy to say hello  to the stars for him. 

    That was really sad. I remembered a video I watched about a dog who almost has the same story with Bob

(I don't need to explain what happened because of the video)

I'm done reading the Mark of Athena

. I'm now reading The House of Hades

and I'm almost done with it.My blog today is about Bob (the titan who became good because of Percy;Titan name:Iapetus). 

Percy promised Bob that he would go to Underworld to visit Bob, but he didn't. I experienced that with my friend. She promised me something (kind of private) but it never happen. I know how Bob felt that time, I kinda felt betrayed that time. Because I trusted her do do what she promised, but she didn't. But I still forgave her, and we're still friends.

Canadian Ebola Vaccine Begins Testing

Human testing of an experimental Canadian-made Ebola vaccine began Monday, with federal officials saying the drug could be shipped to West Africa within months if it proves successful.

Health Minister Rona Ambrose said the launch of the vaccine's first clinical trial marks a promising step in the global campaign to contain the virus, which the World Health Organization says has killed more than 4,000 people, mostly in the West African countries of Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea.

"This provides hope because if the Canadian vaccine is shown to be safe and effective, it will stop this devastating outbreak," Ambrose said in a conference call from Calgary.

Twenty vials of the vaccine have been sent to the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research in Maryland for testing on about 40 healthy volunteers, she said.

The Phase 1 trial will determine if the vaccine created by Public Health Agency of Canada and known as VSV-EBOV is safe for human use. It will also determine the proper dosage level and test for possible side effects, Ambrose said.

Studies have shown the vaccine works in primates both to prevent infection when given before exposure and to increase survival chances when given quickly after exposure.

Canada's chief public health officer said results from the human trial are expected by December, and if successful, the next stage would be to test it in a larger human sample, including those directly handling Ebola cases in West Africa.

"The health-care workers on the ground are the most likely target to do the next step," which could begin by the end of the year or early 2015, Dr. Gregory Taylor said in a news conference in Toronto.

A small U.S. company called NewLink Genetics holds the licence for the vaccine and will be arranging the trials at the U.S. military lab.

NewLink said earlier this month that at least five clinical trials involving the vaccine would soon be underway in the United States, Germany, Switzerland and in an unnamed African country which is not battling Ebola. The Canadian government has also said it wants to conduct a trial in this country.

The aim of these early trials is to see if the vaccine is safe for human use and how much vaccine is needed to generate what is hoped to be a protective response in people.

Experimental Drug Provided to Dallas Ebola Patient

A North Carolina drugmaker is providing its experimental antiviral drug to a Dallas patient being treated for Ebola, an emergency step authorized by the Food and Drug Administration.

Officials at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital said Monday that their patient, Thomas Eric Duncan, is in critical condition and being treated with brincidofovir, an oral medicine developed by Chimerix Inc.Brincidofovir is an antiviral drug being tested against several common viruses, including one that infects patients undergoing bone marrow transplants. Chimerix is working with the U.S. Department of Defense on developing the drug as a treatment against smallpox. Laboratory tests suggested it may also work against Ebola.Two other experimental drugs developed specifically for Ebola have been used in American patients, though it's unclear if they had any effect. The small supply of one drug, ZMapp, was exhausted after being used on a few patients — though government officials say more should be available in the next two months. A second drug, TKM-Ebola from Tekmira Pharmaceuticals, has been used in at least one patient and is said to be in limited supply.

Making Connections (week 6)

Percy: Hey, how’s it going?

Annabeth: Uh, no thanks.

Percy: Okay…have you eaten anything today?

Annabeth: I think Leo is on duty. Ask him.

Percy: So, my hair is on fire.

Annabeth: Okay. In a while.

I think I'm not the only one whose gone through this. When I talk to someone busy they either,(1) don't respond,(2) respond far from the topic. When they don't response I feel like I'm talking to a dead person, if they response far from the topic I feel like I'm talking to another person.

Asking Questions and Wondering

*While I was reading I really wonder what was the coin that Annabeth have always in her pocket. Then the further I read I knew that it was the mark. It will be Annabeth's guide for the quest to  look for the statue.

*There was a line in the prophecy that says 'Won through pain from a woven jail'. I really wonder what that line meant because it sounds weird. Then later on I discovered that it would be like a literal jail from spider's web
